Sketch of the Day! DONALD TRUMP

Tony

Hail to the King Baby.

It is my firm belief that the Trump administration is going to be absolute poison for our country. He and his appointed cronies strike me as hell-bent on undoing as much social, educational, and scientific progress as they can get their hands on, pledging to defund the arts, public schools, and healthcare at every turn. One major institution which has come under extreme fire both figuratively and literally is Planned Parenthood. Politicians on the Right have gone out of their way to vilify this service, but the truth is, no federal funds are used for abortions, and Planned Parenthood provides crucial health services such as screenings, preventive care, birth control, and much much more to women and families of all walks of life, urban and rural alike, and is often the primary source of care for women in poverty.

And so, I'm offering up this image, and
I'LL BE DONATING 100% OF THE PROCEEDS TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD!
I'm selling the ORIGINAL ART, and also these $10 ART PRINTS.

Sketch of the Day! DR STRANGE

Tony

A few years back, when i was drawing DEADPOOL, Gerry Duggan sent some of the pages featuring DR STRANGE to the great STEVE DITKO, with whom he maintained a sort of pen-pal relationship. Ditko responded simply that the pages contained some "interesting visuals." Given the searing responses i'd heard many have received from Mr Ditko, i took his choice to not eviscerate me as some of the highest praise of my career.

Sketch of the Day! LOBO

Tony

Yeah, i like drawing th' Main Man. That book was one of the primary forces in warping my young prepubescent mind. I did this sketch on the road a while back, which i live-broadcast on my Facebook page. I recently got some new pens, and was thrilled with the textures i was getting out of it.

This piece is 8.5" x 11", ink on card stock.

Sketch of the Day! MARV (Sin City)

Tony

Frank Miller's SIN CITY is one of the comics industry's beacons for creator-owned properties. Miller was (and is) one of my comics heroes. and this book showcased him doing his thing in his element, which was an amazing thing to see, and hugely influential to me as a budding comics creator.

8.5" x 9", inks & acrylics (w/ Raphael brushes) and Copic Marker on chipboard.

Sketch of the Day! ZORAK

Tony

I enjoyed Space Ghost as a kid, but the absurdity of Space Ghost Coast To Coast really hit me like a ton of bricks as a teenager, and left an indelible mark on me. Here's a super-rendered ink drawing of the intergalactic villain and sardonic music man, ZORAK!

This piece is 9" x 12", ink on Strathmore Bristol board.

You can find the original art for this piece available over in my STORE.

Sketch of the Day! USAGI YOJIMBO

Tony

When i was a kid, Stan Sakai awoke something deep inside me. I came to his work through TMNT, as most of my generation did, but the world he built in USAGI YOJIMBO blew my little mind away.

Sketch of the Day! CORTO MALTESE

Tony

The day i got these calligraphy pens, i was compelled to bust out a quick little homage to Hugo Pratt's beautiful book, CORTO MALTESE. i will never be able to ink like that guy, but i sure do love trying to get into that headspace sometimes. I need to push myself to loosen up more often.

This piece is 8.5" x 11", ink on card stock.

Sketch of the Day! CRYPT KEEPER

Tony

This is a face only a mother could love, and i've been called a mother a lot of times in my life. I recently got some new pens, and this was the first sketch i did, trying them out. I did this sketch on the road not too long ago, which i live-broadcast on my Facebook page.

This piece is 8.5" x 11", ink on card stock.

Sketch of the Day! WESTWORLD

Tony

I haven't gotten the chance to check out HBO's new WESTWORLD series, but i'm very excited, because i loved the old movie. I did this sketch on the road not too long ago, which i live-broadcast on my Facebook page. This one features Yul Brynner's Gunslinger, which i also shot from the hip, so forgive the inaccuracies in the design.

This piece is 8.5" x 11", ink on card stock.

Happy Birthday, Jack Kirby!

Tony

Jack Kirby was the undisputed King of Comics. Nobody before him or since has rivaled the intensity of his output or his feverish creativity. Most of what we know and love in comics is either derived from or came directly from his hand. We all salute this man, who was the paragon of our craft.

This is the design sketch for a little tribute to Kirby that i stuck into my run on Punisher: Franken-Castle, which is the stained glass window from the monsters' church, featuring Kirby's monsters and his vision of God himself, based on several drawings he had done, which may look familiar to readers who remember another iteration of God I have drawn in some comics.
